Gunganbu is a band based in Gumbaynggirr country, led by Micklo Jarrett, a proud Gumbaynggirr man and language teacher, and Luke Rhodes, songwriter and composer.

Their name, meaning “Friend,” reflects the bond at the heart of the band. Micklo and Luke write songs together, blending soulful melodies with the Gumbaynggirr language to honour the land and culture.

Through their music, Gunganbu aims to inspire and celebrate the Gumbaynggirr people and language. With a powerful message and a deep commitment to cultural preservation, Gunganbu creates a unique space for connection, bringing the richness of the language to audiences everywhere.
