Protocols & Conduct
Code of Conduct Principles of Participation
Our Shared Purpose
We cultivate an environment where culture, care, and creativity guide us.
Our Commitments
We are jointly committed to:
- Deepening connection to Country and culture, uplifting traditions and Elders’ teachings.
- Listening and learning—approaching every voice, idea, and perspective with respect and humility.
- Ensuring a safe, inclusive experience for all, transcending gender, identity, disability, race, socio-economic status, and more.
- Acknowledging and honouring knowledge systems—giving credit to those who taught and shaped us.
- Sharing joy and fostering community—celebrating unity, creativity, and fun.
Our Shared Responsibilities
To foster a nurturing space, we ask everyone to:
- Treat others with respect and care, building trust and community.
- Maintain confidentiality—a space is sacred when personal stories are held in trust.
- Embrace equity—discrimination or oppressive behaviours have no place here.
- Support inclusion and accessibility—challenging bullying and harassment in all forms.
Creating an Inclusive, Accessible Space
Support accessibility by:
- Introducing yourself with name and pronouns, where it’s safe and appropriate.
- Keeping lips visible when speaking, to support those who speech-read.
- Honouring different beliefs and experiences, even if they differ from your own.
- Encouraging quieter voices—offering space for everyone to share.
- Accepting accountability with gratitude—grow from differences and learnings.
- Asking open questions, listening deeply, and avoiding dismissiveness.
Children & Family
- Families, carers, and children are warmly welcomed—children are our future leaders.
- Participants must attend responsibly to their children’s well-being.
- Be patient and respectful—everyone navigates being present differently.
Shared Care for Place
- Refrain from drugs or alcohol—programs nurture clarity and cultural care.
- Limit scented products to make the space more accessible for those with sensitivities.
- Use designated areas for smoking, if needed.
- Leave no trace—take your rubbish and gear with you.
- Unclaimed items may be donated to op-shop after the event.
